Carhartt to Make Masks & Gowns for COVID-19 Efforts

Carhartt is retooling its operations to make medical gowns and masks to help combat the spread of the coronavirus.

The workwear company will begin producing 50,000 medical gowns on April 6 and 2.5 million masks on April 20.

Items will be produced by compensated volunteers following recommended protocols from local health authorities. Carhartt, which is increasing sanitation measures in its facilities, said it will continue to produce them as long as the items are in short supply.

“Serving and answering the call during times of need has always been an integral part of Carhartt’s history, and it’s why consumers have trusted us to have their back for more than 130 years,” said Mark Valade, CEO. “We are humbled and honored to help all the essential workers serving and protecting us right now.”
