Asos has reportedly halted all incoming deliveries from suppliers and third-party brands to make time for adjustments and manage stock amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The online retailer is consequently refusing shipments for spring 20 orders from several third-party brands and suppliers.

However, Asos said it is continuing to serve its customer deliveries as usual, and in a bid to appeal to a larger audience, the retailer will be offering a 20 per cent discount through its app.

Earlier this month, Asos kicked off a consultation process with customer care centre staff as part of an ongoing restructuring scheme that put around 100 jobs at risk of redundancy.

A source told Retail Gazette that staff were informed of the job cuts proposals via email.

An Asos spokesman confirmed that the consultation has commenced, but declined to comment any further.

Last week, retailers including Monsoon Accessorize, and Debenhams extended their supplier payment terms, effective immediately.

Meanwhile, fashion retailer New Look paused all current and future production.

Primark wrote to its suppliers to request to halt all current and future production and the purchasing of any materials.
