Target is the latest retail brand to establish a specific time for senior shoppers. It is designating the first hour every Wednesday for “vulnerable guests,” according to a press release.
It’s also adjusting store hours to provide more time for cleaning store locations and closing a bit earlier for restocking efforts as well.
“For weeks, we’ve been responding to the impact of the coronavirus by taking care of our team, rigorously cleaning our stores and helping our guests find the food, medicine and other essentials they need for themselves and their families,” said CEO Brian Cornell in the release.
“As our team continues to adapt to the country’s fast-changing needs, we’re announcing plans to reduce our store hours and offer dedicated shopping hours for vulnerable guests. We’ll also maintain limits on select products and would ask guests to purchase only what they need so there’s enough supply to accommodate this increased demand,” he added.
The news comes at a time retailers are reeling from the COVID-19, coronavirus outbreak that has cities and states closing retail and restaurants to prevent further spread.
