Nordstrom shuttering over a dozen stores

High-end retailer Nordstrom plans to permanently close 16 stores of its 116 full-line store locations and the move will likely have a negative impact on mall operators.

The closures, according to a Business Insider report, impact 14% of Nordstrom locations. The retailer has 378 in total, which includes its Jeffrey stores as well as Trunk Club locations.

The news comes shortly after retailer Neiman Marcus filed for bankruptcy and J.Crew announced it was going into Chapter 11 as the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic prompted the closure of stores around the world since late March.
