Contactless use surging amid COVID-19, claims Visa

Visa is reporting a surge in tap-to-pay usage since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, with 31 million U.S. consumers using a contactless Visa card or digital wallet in March, according to a blog post.

The figure compares with only 25 million in November 2019, and overall contactless usage is up 150% since March 2019. 

The U.S. has 175 million contactless cards, the largest number in any international market and nine of the top 10 issuers are actively rolling out contactless cards to their members
