Casino installing temperature check kiosks in wake of COVID-19

The Chumash Casino Resort in Santa Ynez, California will have contactless, temperature checking kiosks installed for employees and guests in the coming weeks, according to a Santa Barbara News-Press report.

Kenneth Kahn, tribal chairman for the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians, said the kiosks will read a patron’s temperature from 10 inches away within three to seven seconds.

If the guest’s or patron’s temperature falls below 100.4 degrees, they will get a sticker and be allowed to enter. Persons with higher temperatures will be advised to seek medical care.

Kahn did not say how many kiosks will be installed. The casino will remain closed through the end of May due to the coronavirus pandemic.
