In line with many other retailers, the TK Maxx and Homesense Foundation has created a £1.7 million programme in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The foundation will be providing a special Community Fund of £1 million, dedicated to the funding of local grass roots charities which are mobilising in the fight against the outbreak.

“All our European associates – from our stores, to our processing centres and offices – will have the opportunity to nominate local charities who are supporting the most vulnerable in their communities to receive a grant from this fund.” TJX Europe president Louise Greenless said.

The second part of the programme is a “Tackle Covid-19 Fund” of £700,000 which will see donations to mental health charities and the front line medical charities NHS Charities Together in the UK and the Red Cross in Poland, Germany and Ireland.

It also includes a donation of £100,000 to the Retail Trust’s dedicated appeal “CaRe20” in the UK, which works to provide emotional and practical support services to retail workers.

This programme is in addition to a donation by the Foundation of £135,000 to the British Red Cross Disaster Relief Alliance, which helps ground-breaking global emergency response strategies and is being used to support those affected by the Covid-19 outbreak around the world.
