As the coronavirus pandemic continues to sicken and kill thousands across the U.S., one union group believes it’s time to crack down on behavior in supermarkets and food stores.

United Food and Commercial Workers Union President Marc Perrone believes “careless” shoppers pose the top threat to grocery workers and that it is time to go strictly to online ordering, curbside pickup and home delivery.

His opinion is seconded by other experts, according to a Fox 59 news report.

“Anything that reduces the need for interaction with the public and allows for greater physical distancing will ultimately better protect grocery workers,” said John Logan, professor and director of Labor and Employment Studies at San Francisco State University, to the news outlet. “Shuttering stores and repurposing them for pickup and delivery only would be a positive step.”
