Supermarket chain Stop & Shop, in an effort to make grocery shopping safer for older consumers, is establishing specific shopping hours in light of COVID-19, the coronavirus.

The grocer is opening the store from 6 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. for those over 60 years old, according to a Fox News report. The chain has 400 stores across the northeast.

“We’re making the decision to offer this every day of the week to allow for community members in this age category to shop in a less crowded environment, which better enables social distancing,” Stop & Shop President Gordon Reid said in a statement.

“Although we will not be requesting ID for entry, we ask that you please respect the purpose of the early opening — and do the right thing for your neighbors,” he added. “Store associates do reserve the right to ask customers to leave if they are not a member of this age group.”

The grocer is not the first to enact special shopping hours. Dollar General has also set the first hour of store operation as senior shopping only time as well.
