In the STORIS Spotlight this week is Sandy Powers, a Senior Technical Project Manager. We asked Sandy a few questions about her position at STORIS, but also about things she loves to do in her free-time. Learn more about her in this Q&A.

What is your official title: Senior Technical Project Manager

How long have you been at STORIS: 26 years

What does your job consist of on a daily basis: I work with clients on advanced importing conversions and developing new capabilities for importing conversions. I also manage configurator setups, troubleshoot client issues, work with clients to determine development needs/possibilities and help the support team with programming questions.

What do you like most about working here: The people I work with and the challenge of solving functional & technical challenges for our clients.

How did you get started in the field: I was working for a manufacturing firm in their factory and they offered employees the opportunity to take the IBM aptitude tests. I took the test and scored extremely high. They promoted me to the office and trained me in programming. I have been in IT development ever since.

If you didn’t have your job here, what would you be: Assuming I did not need the money (if I won the lottery) I would probably become a dog trainer as I love working with dogs.

What are your hobbies: I have a rock and mineral collection. I also have a need for speed and actually have driven on many racetracks.

What is your all-time favorite movie: Top Gun.

Do you have a favorite food or restaurant: My favorite food is General Tso’s chicken. I don’t have a favorite restaurant, but Alice’s in Lake Hopatcong comes close.

What is your favorite holiday and why: Christmas because it is wonderful to watch our grandkids open up gifts from Santa!

What is a fun fact about yourself:  I am a certified scuba diver
